TurboFire Journey Week 1

Hello Everyone!

I want to go out of my comfort zone and start sharing immediately my health journey that begins with TurboFire and good nutrition!

First, I LOVE working out by playing sports or lifting HEAVY weights!! Second, I HATE CARDIO :) So when I found Beachbody Programs and Chalene Johnson I fell in LOVE!!!! I have found my soul-mate workout and have never felt so strongly about a DVD workout series before.

Below are a few photos that show how incredibility over-fat and unhealthy I am! I weigh and astonishing 245 pounds her :( This is in May for my cross country trip to California to help a friend move. This is also when I ditched all my medications.

When I seen these photo's I was so ashamed and unhappy with where I had ended up. This followed by a report from the doctor that I needed to lose AT LEAST 75 pounds before we could even start having a baby I decided to change!

Therefore, when I got home I cleaned up my diet even more and started TurboFire and over the 6 months I tried, failed, tried again, failed again and the cycle repeated. Whether it was migraines that took me out for a few days, an injury, crazy exams, or major family problems what ever my excuse I turned to grease, pasta, and beer . . .

Finally, February 8, 2014, I started TurboFire for the first time for the last time! I am still doing the "New to Class" so I can learn the choreography but I am having a BLAST!! By day 3, I was waking up 30 minutes before my alarm went off to workout. I all of a sudden could wake up earlier to get my workout in and I am ecstatic!!!! I took pictures, weight (238), measurements and body fat percentages all on day 1. I plan on taking weight every week on Saturday mornings, measurements on days 15, 45, 75, 105 ect. and pictures on day 30, 60, 90 ect.

During week 1 I did the following workouts; after each workout I include my feelings about the workout.

Fire 30 - an amazing burn of 520 calories both days that I did this workout this week. I had to do modifications to the bur-pees since I cannot do them yet.
HIIT 15 - a great FAST workout so I did an addition 30 minutes of 10-minute trainer to burn over 500 calories
Fire 55EZ - my soul-mate workout! I burned a scorching 903 calories and the routines were great for me! I actually understood them the first time which is great for me :)
Core 20 - OMG I was SO SORE after but it was a really good workout! Only 150 calorie burn but I could feel it in my whole core for 3 days!
Stretch 10 - done daily and was a great stretch for my muscles and my torn rotator cuff.
Stretch 40 - while I almost skipped this workout i am SO GRATEFUL that I did not!!!! It was the best stretch and my body SO NEEDED it! From this point on I will NEVER skip my stretch days. It is so very important to stretch your muscles to keep you limber and to allow your muscles to loosen up so that you can continue to be active!

However, I did learn something very important; even though Chalene say's, "Pick up your Knees" I found out that I did NOT "Pick up my Knees" so on day 8 I am starting to have "jumpers knee." My goal this year was to not get injured so I postponed week 2 for 4 days where I spent 4 days doing yoga to help my knee. Normally the old me would push through it with the "no pain no gain" attitude, but after many injuries from this mind set I finally listened to my body. I am starting week 2 tomorrow now that I can use my knees with no problems.

As I start to see improvements I will post updates and reflect on each week of this journey :)

I hope that this inspires you to finally start or the last time and make this a lifestyle :)

Hello!

Good Day!

My name is Katie and I am happily married women with a great husband, wonderful family and friends, and looking to get back to a more basic simpler way of life. Why so simple? you ask . . . well in a simpler way of life I hope to achieve better health, less stress, more family time, a better way to provide for my family physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially, as well as to be the best I can be.

I was an athlete in high school and graduated in really good shape. From there I went to college where I burned the candle at both ends by taking too many credit hours and working way too much. Here I found the friends that truly meant the most to me because they stuck with me through all the crazy times and my high school sweet heart became my husband :) Through undergrad I became very sick which was diagnosed as Fibromyalgia which ultimately lead to a significant weight gain from the lethargy, fatigue, insomnia, and medications not counting a terrible diet. My diet was 70/30 clean to junk and it was not the amount that I was consuming it was the time and types of foods I was consuming. I had to face facts I was an emotional eater and ate what everyone else ate. However, at the limited exercise and increased time at a desk it quickly added up.

Six years later, three years into my marriage, and 80 - 100 pounds over weight (doctor dependent) I finally had enough. I quit my PhD program and put my two bachelors (one in biology and one in chemistry) and my masters of science in analytical chemistry to good use and do what I always loved . . . TEACHING! While I am not making much more money than I was before I am working significantly less time. With this increase time factor and less stress I plan on getting back to the basics and getting myself put back together to start a family as well as to finally be healthy once again!

Cheers, for now! Katie
